Sometimes I can understand why the assumption that the Guillebeau - Brown connection would not be family is because of the simple name change. In today's society and as far as I know even back then in the 17-1800s a women who married took on the last name of the man. Even so, this wouldn't change the bloodline, only the name and as a result the molecular would be the same.

Personally, I can't see why anybody would ostracize one branch of the family to another. For me, I'm just ecstatic that I found so many family members. Although we cannot change the opinion of others, during the brief time in which I have done my family tree research and have located so many members I believe that I have some skill in making a wise determination.

Still we can go back even further to Andre Guillebeau and Mary Jane Roquemore; from this point there are branches in the tree because of their children; Pierre Guillebeau, Susannah Guillebeau and James Guillebeau. Now, I have not had time to do the research on James Guillebeau and was only able to do a limited amount on Susannah Guillebeau. However, straight up line I find that we are all family.

Therefore, the site is designed to bring us all back together as one, in one place with the same focus in mind. I understand that somewhere back in either 1986 or 1987 there was a major event of the Guillebeau family line hosted in New York, I may be wrong about the date, anyway. Although I was around, I was really not anchored in my family history and was not aware of the event. I would love to see a coming together of all of us regardless of branch.

So ask yourself, Are we family?

Now I understand that there are some that don't agree with me however, I only ask one thing and that's it; I welcome you to prove me wrong. You can add your views to the Guillebeau discussion board and let's talk about :-)
